Welcome to the UltIntLang forum

The purpose of this group is to discuss various ideas about what should be included in an international language.

The most well-known international language is Esperanto, and it has an associated ideology of mutual tolerance and respect. But it is far from perfect, and has been 'improved', particularly in the form of Ido. But many problems still remain.
So, I have set up this group to examine the problem from the very basics, and to discuss which aspects of Esperanto, Ido, etc are good or bad, and why. Also, which aspects of national languages are particularly good or useful, and would be good in a new language.
My ultimate hope is to somehow collate and consolidate all of this feedback into a new international language that is acceptable to everyone, and reflects the international community. That goal may never happen, of course, but it should encourage some good discussion.

[Please note: This group is not for proponents of particular languages to push their own existing language as the best international language. This group is concerned with aspects of languages, why they are good or bad, and what they might bring to a new international language. If you are of the opinion that your language is perfect, then this group is not for you.]

Topics to discuss include:
Which letters/sounds are needed or useful?
How should words be created? (ie: latin roots? random roots? no roots? what about affixes?)
What kind of grammar system is best?
How can internationality be ensured?
What about ideographical languages?

Despite the sometimes technical nature of the topics, everyone is encouraged to join and give their opinion.
